- travel delay, missed departure, or abandonment

If you want the full list of benefits and limits, visit our What We Cover page.Cruise ship evacuation cover
OGSure includes cruise ship evacuation cover, subject to the policy wording.
This can help towards the cost of removal from a cruise ship or liner if:
- you suffer sudden Bodily Injury or Illness
- you need emergency inpatient treatment that cannot be provided on board
- your evacuation is arranged and carried out by a third party, such as the coastguard, military or similar organisation
- you receive an invoice for the cost of the evacuation
The policy does not cover every type of removal from a cruise ship.
For example, cover does not apply if you travelled against medical advice, received a terminal prognosis, do not need immediate emergency inpatient treatment, or made a voluntary contribution without receiving an invoice.
Cover for over 70s and over 80s cruise travellers
OGSure may suit many cruise travellers in their 70s and early 80s, provided the trip fits the policy rules.
For travellers over 70, both single-trip and annual multi-trip cover may be available, depending on age, trip length, destination and policy terms.
For travellers over 75, annual multi-trip cover may still be available, but each trip is limited to a maximum of 60 days.
For travellers aged 80 to 84, single-trip cover may still be available.
Annual multi-trip cover is not available once you have reached age 80.
For travellers aged 85 or over, OGSure is not the right fit.
Single-trip and annual cruise cover
OGSure offers both single-trip and annual multi-trip cover.
Single-trip cruise cover
Single-trip cover is designed for one continuous trip of up to 30 days.
It may be suitable if you are planning one cruise and want cover for that specific journey, including your travel dates before and after sailing.
Annual multi-trip cruise cover
Annual multi-trip cover is designed for people who travel more than once during a 12-month policy period.
It may be useful if you have more than one cruise or holiday planned during the year.
Annual trips can last up to 90 days each, depending on your age. If you are over 75, the maximum trip length is 60 days.
Each trip must begin and end within the annual policy period.
Make sure your full cruise is covered
Your cruise trip is not always just the sailing dates.
When choosing your policy dates, include the full journey, such as:
- the day you leave home
- flights to your departure port
- hotel stays before your cruise
- the full cruise itinerary
- port stops and excursions
- hotel stays after your cruise
- your return journey home
If your trip is longer than the number of days insured, cover may not apply for that trip.
Pre-existing medical conditions and cruise travel insurance for seniors
This is one of the biggest questions cruise travellers have, and rightly so.
Claims arising from pre-existing medical conditions are excluded.
We use a broad definition, including treatment, medication, advice, or diagnosis in the previous five years, and known or foreseeable conditions.
That means it is important to read the policy carefully before buying, especially for a cruise where medical treatment at sea or evacuation arrangements may matter more than on a standard land-based trip.
For a plain-English explanation, visit our Pre-Existing Medical Conditions page.Where can you cruise with OGSure?
That depends on your country of residence, your destination, and the geographical area chosen on the policy.
The wording defines your usual country of residence as the country where you normally live or work for more than three consecutive months, and your trip must fall within the policy’s geographical limits.
To check both, use our Where We Cover page.Emergency help while you cruise
OGSure includes 24/7 emergency assistance.
If you have a serious medical emergency during your cruise, the emergency assistance team can help guide the next steps.
You must contact the Emergency Assistance Centre as soon as possible if you need inpatient treatment, MRI or CT scans, medical evacuation or repatriation.
In many hospitalisation cases, direct payment can often be arranged locally. Repatriation must be approved and arranged by the emergency assistance team.
